LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk Is Playing At My House (London session, 2010)

I haven’t read any of the press or hype for LCD’s “London sessions” but I figured it out as soon as I hit play: it’s James Murphy’s attempt at “the Peel session”. Dude’s a pretty fabulous producer but he knows how a great Peel session can bring out the best in a band. Here’s my top three sessions, while we’re on the subject:

  1. The Fall - New Puritan
  2. This Heat - Horizontal Hold
  3. New Order - 5-8-6

Anyway, if you ask me, this performance pretty handily beats the original recording. He actually seems excited about Daft Punk playing at his house; I never got that feeling from the original. I just thought it was Murphy being funny and name-dropping because that was his thing back then.
